Micro weddings or intimate weddings: all the advantages of this new trend

For some years at Mery Liccardi eventi we are used to organizing micro weddings or intimate weddings, but the situation that we are living this year, makes them the new trend that many couples are up for it.

WHAT ARE MICRO WEDDINGS OR INTIMATE WEDDINGS?

These are weddings with no more than 40/50 guests, in which couples choose to invite the closest family and friends.

They still maintain the same structure of a traditional wedding, but with some advantages I mention below.

ADVANTAGES OF SMALL WEDDINGS

I must admit, I LOVE intimate weddings! They seem to me a special way to celebrate love.

And to be honest there are many advantages to choosing a “small-format” wedding:

  • BUDGET: You have more freedom to decide how to invest your money. First of all, the total budget is lower relative to a wedding with more than 100 guests. And in addition, you can spend more on the details. For example, if you have always dreamed of a more striking floral decoration, being smaller spaces and by investing less in other expenses, you can afford to pay more in the decoration. Live music, a dream setting, more personalized details for each guest, etc., will make your intimate wedding a special and unique experience for you and those who will stay with you on such an important day.                                                                                        micro weddings or intimate weddings    micro weddings or intimate weddings
  • ENJOY MORE OF YOUR GUESTS: This is another advantage of having a small number of guests. Enjoy every one of them, since at a bigger wedding this would be impossible. Times would stretch on a lot and it would be practically difficult to spend more moments with each one of them.                                                                                  micro weddings or intimate weddings
  • OUT OF COMMITMENTS! How many times I have heard couples who have invited people they barely knew! Well, in an intimate wedding you can forget about the commitments and invite whoever you really want.
  • WELCOME PARTY: With few guests, you can take the time to organize a welcome party the day before the wedding, to gather everyone, especially when they are “destination weddings” and your guests travel from other countries.

There are many advantages of marrying with a small list of guests. And I’d add something else… In all the intimate weddings I’ve organized so far, there’s such a special atmosphere that it’s hard to describe. They are authentic, emotional and love can be breathed in the air.

What better choice in difficult times like these  – and not only- than to look for the location of your dreams, make a small list of guests and organize the most special day of your lives!

If you want to see some of our micro weddings, I leave you some examples so that you can start dreaming…

And if you need our help to organize your special day, you can write to us and we will be happy to make your dreams come true.

Elopements on the coast of Puglia: between beaches and dreamy cliffs

If you dream of an intimate ceremony in unique settings as a backdrop, don’t miss this article where I give you more ideas for elopements on the coast of Puglia.

IDYLLIC BEACHES AND BREATHLESS CLIFFS

Crystal clear waters, golden sandy beaches and white cliffs, create a unique landscape and a coast desired by many tourists in this hidden part of Italy, Puglia.

The “heel of the boot” offers idyllic beaches such as the famous Pescoluse, also known as the “Maldives of Salento”, with beaches of fine white sand, and clean waters that lean out the Ionian Sea.

These beaches alternate beautiful cliffs, like those found in Castro, where caves and coves with an intense blue, leave us breathless.

Going up the coast that overlooks the Adriatic Sea, we find one of the most well-known and most photographed places, Polignano a Mare. A village located on cliffs and that creates a unique and beautiful landscape.

GARGANO, A PARADISE BETWEEN LAND, SEA, NATURE AND CULTURE

Further north of Puglia, there is the Gargano, a massif that forms the so-called “sperone d’Italia”.

Its territory is characterized by forest areas with abundant pine forests, mountain landscapes, an amazing coast with white limestone cliffs, sea caves, sandy beaches and villages that overlook the sea.

In this area there is one of the most well-known and most visited shrines by tourists and pilgrims all over the world, the sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo, related to the apparitions of the archangel Michael.

The villages of Gargano preserve the ancient medieval characteristics of the agricultural villages of the inland areas, and the seafaring villages of the coast.

Charming villages and an amazing coastline, give unique settings that make this place a small paradise between land, sea, nature and culture.

DREAM ELOPEMENTS ON THE COAST OF PUGLIA

And amid so much beauty, how about an intimate ceremony, just the two of you, a sunset with the crystal clear sea in the background on a cliff and surrounded by nature?

The coast of Puglia offers stunning settings for a dreamy elopement.

You can choose this authentic place in southern Italy for a romantic getaway and to celebrate your love in an idyllic place. And of course, take advantage of your trip for a honeymoon, touring all corners of this region, a hidden treasure in southern Italy.

A tour of the provinces of Andalusia: destination weddings in Granada

Today we stroll through the streets of what was the last Nasrid kingdom, through its smell of spices, the charm of its old neighborhoods and the majesty of the Alhambra. And to discover places full of magic, perfect for your destination weddings in Granada.

SIGHTS AND LANDMARKS IN GRANADA

The neighborhoods of Albaycín, Sacromonte and Realejo, represent the essence and the enchantment of this city.

Getting lost walking through its streets, discovering beautiful corners and small squares that appear suddenly, and contemplating the Alhambra from a viewpoint, are just some of the pleasures that Granada offers its visitors.

In the center of the city we find the symbol of the Christianity of Granada, the Cathedral, built just after the conquest of the city by the Catholic Kings.

Although the initial project was Gothic in style, the new architect Diego de Siloé resumed the construction by modifying the previous idea and creating a fully Renaissance temple.

The Royal Chapel, located right next to the Cathedral, is Gothic style and was built on what was the old main mosque in the city.

The Catholic Kings commissioned its construction as their burial place, demonstrating their special bond with this city. Inside are the remains of Ferdinand of Aragon, Isabella I of Castile, Joanna the Mad, and Philip the Handsome.

Another place to visit during your stay in Granada, is without a doubt La Cartuja, symbol of Spanish Baroque arcitecture.

The Abbey of Sacromonte is an ancient abbey built at the end of the 16th century, after the remains of some martyrs were found and among them those of St. Cecilius. This place can be visited with the holy caves, located below the church.

Visiting Granada means an essential visit to one of the most visited monuments in Spain, the Alhambra. This set of palaces and gardens was built on a hill and began to be royal residence in the mid-13th century. To this fortress, the construction of the palace of Charles V was added after the conquest of the last Nasrid kingdom by the Catholic Kings.

The reddish color of its walls, its strategic position in front of the Albaycín neighborhood, its history and its impressive architecture, make this monument a special place that falls in love with any visitor.

GASTRONOMY

The gastronomy of Granada is a mixture of Arab and Christian influence. The use of spices combined with the typical products of this province, create a varied and very tasty cuisine.

Typical dishes include habas con jamón, tortilla del Sacromontepapas a lo pobre and olla de San Antón.

During your visit in this city you can taste the piononos, a dessert created in honor of Pope Pius IX, and famous all over the world.

VENUES FOR YOUR DESTINATION WEDDINGS IN GRANADA

Venues with amazing views of the Alhambra, can be the perfect setting for your destination weddings in Granada.

The beauty of this fortress as a background and a sunset of reddish colors can witness your “I do”, creating unforgettable moments for the couple and their guests.

Some of these venues represent the essence of neighborhoods such as Sacromonte, with its characteristic caves and terraces that offer the best views of the Alhambra and the city.

Others, with their gardens and fountains that take us to the Nasrid Granada, offer beautiful views of the Albaycín and the Alhambra, and where you can celebrate weddings in a more elegant style, but always in a typical context of this city.

A destination wedding in Granada means creating unforgettable memories in a city with enchantment and magic.

In the next few weeks we will continue our route through other provinces of Andalusia.

How to plan a wedding welcome party

If you have decided to get married away from your country surrounded by friends and family, you should think about planning a wedding welcome party for your guests.

WHAT IS EXACTLY A WEDDING WELCOME PARTY?

It is usually an informal party one or two days before the wedding. It is a way to gather all your guests in a relaxed atmosphere and, sometimes, when the families or friends of the couple don’t know each other, it is the best way to break the ice and get to know each other.

You can plan a welcome party also when, even if your wedding is in your same city, you have many guests from outside so it is a way to see them before your big day.

WHEN SHOULD YOU THROW A WEDDING WELCOME PARTY?

The best thing would be one or two days before the wedding so you can be sure that all or almost all of your guests have arrived and can go to your party.

HOW TO PLAN IT?

I advise you to have a simple and informal party in a relaxed atmosphere where your guests can enjoy laughing, dancing, eating and talking.

Also for decoration, I would choose something very simple. Candles and garlands of lights are the perfect allies to create a magical and at the same time relaxed atmosphere.

Regarding the food, I recommend for example a barbecue. Or a big paella with sangría if your wedding will be in this beautiful country, Spain.

WHERE TO THROW YOUR WELCOME PARTY?

The easiest solution would be in the same place where your wedding will be. But if you want to leave the surprise effect for the big day, you can find many restaurants or hotels that can rent an hall for your party.

IS BETTER A WELCOME PARTY OR A BRUNCH THE DAY AFTER THE WEDDING?

There are couples that prefer to meet their guests the day after the wedding, for a brunch all together, closing with a final flourish those exciting days.

But I think a party is much better before your wedding for two reasons: it brings together all those who already know each other and those who do not, creating an even more familiar atmosphere. And also because it’s very probable that the day after your wedding all are too tired to attend your brunch.

Are you going to plan your welcome party or will you see your guests directly on the day of the wedding?

How to plan a wedding in Spain

If you are dreaming to get married in some spanish city but you don’t know how to plan a wedding in Spain, here you can find some advices so make your dream come true.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CITY/REGION FOR YOUR WEDDING IN SPAIN

If you love this country but you don’t know which city to choose so you can say “I do”, firstly I advise you to define what kind of wedding you want.

Are you dreaming about a beach wedding or a wedding in a garden or in a private villa?

Do you prefer a Renaissance castle or some Arabic fortress? Depending on the place where you would like to seal your love, you can choose different areas of Spain.

Another very important element is your budget because it’s not the same to get married in some areas in Southern Spain than in the North or in big cities like Barcelona where you can find some differences in costs.

For example in Andalucia there are many options for different kinds of wedding.

For luxury weddings, in private beaches clubs or in luxury villas, the area of Marbella is undoubtedly the perfect location for an exclusive wedding.

If you are dreaming about a romantic and historic location, the options are infinite: Granada and its Alhambra, or cities as Seville or Cordoba offer the best venues for this kind of weddings.

Once you are sure about where to get married, you should solve another question… How to plan the wedding from far away?

THE WEDDING PLANNING SERVICE AS THE BEST SOLUTION TO PLAN YOUR WEDDING IN SPAIN

I know, you’re already thinking…I don’t want to spend more money hiring a Wedding Planner!

But, are you sure that it is one more expense? Because if you think about it, a Wedding Planner can give you many advantages when planning your wedding. And especially if you are out of Spain!

First of all a Wedding Planner that works in the location where you want to get married, knows perfectly the market, the vendors and the costs of each service. She can advise you to get the best prices.

Another advantage is that she will be present in each phase of the organization and she will be able to solve in situ every question or unforeseen situation that may arise.

This does not mean that the Wedding Planner excludes you from each phase of the planning of your wedding! On the contrary, you will make every decision and you will be in touch with your Wedding Planner forever to participate in all preparations.

Once you hire your Wedding Planner, you will start planning your big day together.

SOME TIPS FOR PLANNING A PERFECT WEDDING IN SPAIN

I want to give you some tips so that you have them in mind when planning your wedding in this beautiful country.

  • When choosing the venue for your wedding, in case of symbolic ceremony, it would be better to find a venue where make the entire event: ceremony, banquet and also accomodation for at least part of the guests (depending on the number of guests, you can find venues that you can rent entirely for you). In this way the development of the event will be easier for all and without any transfer that means additional costs as for example the bus rental.
  • A very important detail when it is about a destination wedding, it’s to plan some extra activity for your guests in the days before your wedding. Visit the city, a Tapas route, an excursion in nature, etc. There are thousands of ideas for all ages and tastes!
  • Don’t forget to organize a welcome party for your guests! It would be ideal to prepare a barbecue in the gardens of the rented venue, or a big paella to welcome the family and friends and get together in an informal party before the big day arrives!
