How to plan a wedding in Spain

If you are dreaming to get married in some spanish city but you don’t know how to plan a wedding in Spain, here you can find some advices so make your dream come true.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CITY/REGION FOR YOUR WEDDING IN SPAIN

If you love this country but you don’t know which city to choose so you can say “I do”, firstly I advise you to define what kind of wedding you want.

Are you dreaming about a beach wedding or a wedding in a garden or in a private villa?

Do you prefer a Renaissance castle or some Arabic fortress? Depending on the place where you would like to seal your love, you can choose different areas of Spain.

Another very important element is your budget because it’s not the same to get married in some areas in Southern Spain than in the North or in big cities like Barcelona where you can find some differences in costs.

For example in Andalucia there are many options for different kinds of wedding.

For luxury weddings, in private beaches clubs or in luxury villas, the area of Marbella is undoubtedly the perfect location for an exclusive wedding.

If you are dreaming about a romantic and historic location, the options are infinite: Granada and its Alhambra, or cities as Seville or Cordoba offer the best venues for this kind of weddings.

Once you are sure about where to get married, you should solve another question… How to plan the wedding from far away?

This does not mean that the Wedding Planner excludes you from each phase of the planning of your wedding! On the contrary, you will make every decision and you will be in touch with your Wedding Planner forever to participate in all preparations.

Once you hire your Wedding Planner, you will start planning your big day together.

SOME TIPS FOR PLANNING A PERFECT WEDDING IN SPAIN

I want to give you some tips so that you have them in mind when planning your wedding in this beautiful country.

  • When choosing the venue for your wedding, in case of symbolic ceremony, it would be better to find a venue where make the entire event: ceremony, banquet and also accomodation for at least part of the guests (depending on the number of guests, you can find venues that you can rent entirely for you). In this way the development of the event will be easier for all and without any transfer that means additional costs as for example the bus rental.
  • A very important detail when it is about a destination wedding, it’s to plan some extra activity for your guests in the days before your wedding. Visit the city, a Tapas route, an excursion in nature, etc. There are thousands of ideas for all ages and tastes!
  • Don’t forget to organize a welcome party for your guests! It would be ideal to prepare a barbecue in the gardens of the rented venue, or a big paella to welcome the family and friends and get together in an informal party before the big day arrives!

What are the “Fine art style” weddings?

I admit it! I’m in love with “Fine Art style” weddings and I have a weakness for them.

I know that you are thinking right now…”And what is this???”

Ok, keep calm…In this post I explain everything and I’m sure that after reading and seeing some inspiration photos, you will also want a “Fine Art wedding”.

Also this trend comes from the USA (Obviously!), present in the most famous wedding magazines and blogs for a few years.

The Fine Art style is classic and traditional, where nature and organic elements predominate. It is an elegant, ethereal and romantic style.

The Fine Art weddings are simple and sophisticated. Decoration focuses on pastel colors and organic elements such as foliage, plants, stone or clay vessels, silk or linen fabrics, wood and marble.

Stationery is characterised by an elegant calligraphy and the use of wax seals.

Location is very important. An elegant and historic venue with amazing gardens.

Photography is in pastel colors, images that look like they are out of a story book. They are dreamy, elegant and delicate photos. A photography that captures moments and emotions with extreme sensitivity.

The importance of a mood board to design your wedding

When you start planning your wedding, one of the first things you have to do with your wedding planner is to define the style, the theme and colors of your big day. There is a tool that can help you with this task: a mood board.

WHAT IS A MOOD BOARD AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

A mood board is a type of collage inspiration that help to define and design a wedding.

In this board we can collect all that elements that inspire us: colors, materials, texture, ideas, sketchs, etc. All these elements will help us to create a color palette on which you will design the wedding (from the stationery to the bridal shoes). A mood board will help us to filter the ideas and to define a style and a theme.

HOW TO COLLECT THESE ELEMENTS?

There are two ways to do it: a physical support, with a notebook or a foam board, or in a digital form creating a storage folder, or using one of the most famous tools like Pinterest.

Here you can find some ideas.

After a first meeting with the couple where they communicate their ideas and tastes, I personally create a Pinterest secret board, in which only we have access, and where we will add all things that we like and inspire us.

A mood board will help us to choose the theme, the flowers, the accessories, the stationery, etc. so everything is harmonious and follow a common thread.

It’s very important that you always keep your mood board in mind when you will coordinate with each vendor, so they also know your tastes, theme and colors and they can use that so everything follow the same line.

This tool is useful not only to organize your wedding, but also for any other event or to decorate your house.  So, do you want to create your own inspiration mood board?

The Wedding Day Coordination to get the perfect big day

There are couples that plan their wedding without the help of a professional of the wedding industry, but when the date of the wedding is close, they need to hire a wedding planner for the wedding day coordination, so they can enjoy their day with the calm that everything will turn out right.

But, what is exactly the wedding day coordination service?

The work of coordination of the wedding planner starts around  3  weeks before the wedding, when she makes contact with all vendors and check all their works, time of arrival, and any other detail that she has to keep in mind so that the day of the wedding all will go well.

Then she prepares a timing of the day in which there are the times of vendors, reminders, times of ceremony and banquet, surprises, music, etc.

A week before she has to confirm the number of the guests and final seating plan.

Sometimes the wedding planner coordinate the ceremony (when it is a civil or symbolic ceremony), through a guide notes prepared previously with the couple and officiant, and where there are the main moments, rituals, musics, etc.

coordinación día B

The previous hours of the ceremony, the wedding planner supervises the ceremony and banquet places, the decoration and the works of all vendors.

During the reception, she coordinates all the planned activities, and she stays until after the first dance so that all turn out well.

Elopement, a new trend in the world of weddings

Every time we hear more the term Elopement that refers to a new trend in the world of weddings.

This trend consists in a choice of the couple to celebrate their wedding alone and possibly out of their city and even outside of their country.

There are couples that want to escape from conventional and to share this intimate moment, without being under the eye of relatives and friends, without any planning and certain amount of expenses for food, wedding car, stationery, and much more.

All that daring and passionate couples that decide to choose this different way to say “Yes, I do”, should know that there are many advantages that make the elopement a simple and fascinating way to replace the traditional wedding:

  • The planning of an elopement is much more simple. It’s mainly about looking for the date that is in the couple interest, and especially, to decide where to realize it. In the elopement, there are very few suppliers involved: a location, an officiant, a photographer, flowers, make up artist, hairdresser and location for a romantic dinner.
  • Therefore the expenses are mínimum unlike the typical wedding.
  • Another advantage is to join the elopement with the honeymoon in some exotic and attractive place.
